Three things I learned about food

Well, alhamduillah, I learned more than three things. But, I’ll just list three at a time
You probably know that what you eat may affect your health. But, do you know that:
- The order that you eat your meal (e.g., soup first or last) has great impact on how your body reacts.
- The way you prepare your food may turn healthy ingredients into toxins.
- The combination of food you eat in a single meal may affect your digestion and nutrient absorption.
Stay tuned with our eating wisely series.

Salam,
Traditionally, we have a habit of eating fruits right after the meal. If you experience gas through this practice, it’s the order of the food that you eat. Fruits are easier to digest because they are raw and full of enzyme while cooked foods are very difficult to digest due to the lack of enzyme. When we eat fruits right after the meal, fruits can be digested quickly and ready to go; however, the cooked foods are still in the process of being digested and are not ready to go. What happens next is the cooked foods are fermented, literally, in your body by the fruits. Hence, the gas.
So, what’s the right order? Either eat fruits before the meal or eat the fruits one or two hours after the meal.
Asalaamu alaikum wa ramatulahi wa barakatu
So what is the order we should eat in?
I ask because I think I may do it the wrong way
wa alaikum assalam wa rahmatu Allahi wa barakatu,
There are different “theories” about the order.
One I heard is start with non-carb item, e.g., salad or meat, because if you start with carbs your body will kick into storage mode and will store the remaining food items as fat.
