The details of the story were doubtful (was he polishing his car with that wrench?!), and therefore the entire article became doubtful for me. Surely it is not necessary to use fictional info in order to make what is good and right appear better. Truth does not require literary enhancement. You are right about the importance of the authenticity of the narration from Hadith. However, the story given in this post, I believe, is just a story.
